There has been great progress in the diagnosis and treatment of many cancers, but more work is needed.

Current treatments are effective for a while, but eventually cancer finds new mechanisms to circumvent treatment.

One of the ways cancer works around treatment regimens is by co-opting a patients’ metabolism and stealing its resources. Tumor cells are hungry and need high amounts of fuel and oxygen to survive and spread.

Our focus is on the interactions between cancer and the patient’s systemic metabolism, and disrupting cancer’s supply chain.

What is Metabo-Oncology?

Cancer needs fuel and oxygen to grow and spread. Cancer cells use complex methods to gain access to a patient’s energy resources like glucose and lipids, as well as growth hormones like insulin, leptin, and adiponectin, and then delivers these stolen resources via new blood vessels specifically to the tumor site (angiogenesis).

Metabo-oncology is the area of research and treatment dedicated to unraveling these complex actions and to blocking cancer’s supply chain.
